I just managed to catch the Serpentine Pavilion by Peter Zumthor which closed this weekend – a stunning space.
The idea was really quite simple: a black box enclosing a strip of planting with. Lots of people were enjoying sitting, soaking it up, enjoying the calm beauty of a refuge in central London.
The autumn sun streaking through the open roof created slashes of light which hit the tall grasses.
Whilst most of the plants were no longer flowering the growth and shapes still had real impact.
There’s something special about the straight geometric shapes contrasted with the unconstrained unfurling of plants spilling out.
Nice photos Hannah. And an interesting blog – I don’t actually read them very often but yours is well written and enjoyable to read. Thanks!
Thanks Sheila, its a shame its too late to catch the garden itself as the photos don’t really do it justice.
